Dear Shu, Eric, and Wendy,

We are deeply saddened by the news of Edward’s passing. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. Edward and Shu were our first contact when we arrived in San Diego in 1979 from Taiwan. We are very grateful for your generosity in helping us settle in the United States. We have many fond memories of trips you took us along with Wendy and Eric to San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, and the beach of La Jolla. I also remember Edward teaching my dad and me how to change oil on a car. I became our family’s mechanic until I graduated from college. Edward was a great friend and mentor, and we will miss him dearly. If there is anything that we can help, please do not hesitate to ask.
