Things To Make Your Mac Suck Less

Even Macs have warts.

1. Fix Scroll Direction

Go here >

Uncheck “Move content in the direction of finger movement when scrolling or navigating”.

2. Search Current Folder In Finder

Open finder. Go to Finder > Preferences (or Cmd + ,) > Advanced

Change search to “Search the Current Folder”.

This way, your searches are fast, and if you want to search your whole Mac, then you can just click on the “this Mac” button. Besides, when you’re searching for something on your entire Mac, don’t you use Spotlight (cmd + space) anyway?

3. Use Path Name Instead Of Folder Name In Finder

One of the things OS X 10.7 Finder does poorly vs Windows 7 Explorer is showing some of the technical underpinnings and informing more knowledgable users about what’s going on.

You can fix one of these problems by showing the path in the Title Bar of Finder. Just run this command in terminal:

defaults write com.apple.finder _FXShowPosixPathInTitle -bool YES

4. Unhide Library

Run this in terminal:

chflags nohidden ~/Library
