I dream of an eco office

For years I’ve wanted an eco office in the garden. I’ve looked at the brochures (yes, it’s been that long), looked at other people’s gardens and dreamed.

We bought our current house knowing the kitchen was too small. Friends of my parents had viewed and rejected it for just that reason. We loved it anyway. Then we hated the kitchen. Falling over each other it’s barely big enough for two people at once. The original plan was to knock through to the spare room next to the kitchen.

The year after moving in we had our beautiful baby daughter and she needed the room that had been my office. So I moved to that spare room. I painted the walls in eco paint, got an eco lamp and eco lampshades for my birthday and recycled the furniture.

8 years later- uninspiring and lacking storage

But still we hated the kitchen.

Finally, 8 years later, after an argument about the state of the messy kitchen, I decided I wasn’t going to wait until we could afford it I would sell some shares and build that office.

I started researching the options. We needed to knock down, move and replace the garage, create somewhere covered for wood and the car in winter and add the office. We measured, drew rough plans and I looked at pre-fab garages, garden offices, sheds and local builders.

Nearly everything looked like a shed or a really boring garage and it didn’t look like I would be warm enough in the winter. Life took over again so I put it on the back burner once more and continued to hate the kitchen.

Then we met David.

I build garden rooms. He said. They are cradle to cradle. He said. You can design it how you want it and even have a green roof. He said.

Who is this fairy godfather come to fulfil my office dreams?
