You’ve hit upon something that I have been struggling to understand myself.
I wonder how much of this is part of a society that doesn’t value empowerment. As in, the perception is that the only real way to have power or a voice in this country is to be a wealthy socialite who gets access to politicians and CEO’s, etc.
And this thought leads me to think about what role the decline of Washington has played in it, that lack of upholding the social contract signed when they get elected.
