When people tell you to “get over it”

My understanding of “get over it” is to stop orbiting around the trouble. People usually say this when you keep thinking about it, complaining about it and ultimately not enjoying life because of it. Of course, the troubles you have faced cannot simply go away as if they never happened, but you can’t stay stuck on them either. You need to stop feeling bad all the time, to “get over it” and move on.
