God is not mad at you, He is mad about you!
by Ed Elliott
Growing up, I had a friend whose father used to get very angry with him. One summer, he didn’t come home for three nights. My friend didn’t run away; his parents knew he was in the neighborhood spending the night at different homes of his friends. He was so afraid of facing his father’s anger that he did everything he could to avoid it. Many today, portray God as if He is still angry with us and desires to punish us for every sin committed. The good news is that is not true.
“He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.” Psalm 103:10
The Bible says that the wages of sin is death. If God were to punish you for your sin, His only option would be to kill you! If God did punish you for your sins, He would owe Jesus an apology because Jesus already paid for your sins on the cross. The law of double jeopardy states that the same crime cannot be tried twice. Today, the wrath of God will never fall on you as a believer because it has already fallen on His son at the cross. He judged your sins in the body of His son. Isaiah 53 gives a detailed description of the death of Jesus on the cross but many forget to continue reading into the 54th chapter where God makes some astounding and incredible promises about this New Covenant He is establishing.
