The Lamb of God

In the Old Testament, when a lamb was brought to the high priest as an offering for sin. The high priest didn’t examine the man who brought the lamb; he examined the lamb to make sure it was without spot or blemish. Jesus is the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world.

Sadly, many today think the message of the gospel is about examining people and pointing out all of their sins — it isn’t. Our responses should be to simply show them Jesus and tell them He was examined on their behalf. He was without spot or blemish and was the sacrifice accepted by God for us all. Why examine the sins of a sinner when God doesn’t remember them. Why try to remember what God chose to forget.

“For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more” (Hebrews 8:12).

The gospel is a simple, wonderful, life-giving message that religion has been twisting and perverting for years.

God isn’t examining us; He examined Jesus for us.
