Our peace with God isn’t based on what we do or don’t do, it is totally based on what Jesus accomplished at the cross for us.

I was watching an old Western movie and the hero was about to shoot a villain and he said, “You better make peace with God because you will see Him soon.”

That still is a common view today, that we are the ones who need to make peace with God. The truth is, God is the one who has made peace with us.

In Isaiah 54, God calls the gospel a “Covenant of Peace.” Keep in mind, that in the previous chapter Isaiah 53, it graphically and prophetically describes what will happen to Jesus on the cross. Most believers stop reading there but the next chapter 54 begins to lay out for us the benefits of the cross, God’s New Covenant, as well as how we will now relate to God. A volume of books could easily be written on this chapter but let me just bring to your attention a few key points as to why our heart can be at peace with God.

This New Covenant of peace comes with some amazing guarantees we should never ever forget.

For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee. For the mountains shall depart
