REFLECTION ONE: 8/30/18

THE FIRST WEEK! This week, we were introduced to grids and how to notice and apply them to different situations. The first day we looked at a variety of printed publications and compared them in terms of visual effects and purpose. From this exercise it helped me realize how each factor of the resulting design has had some form of consideration when it comes to the overall effect of the publication. I really enjoyed lab the first day because not only was I able to apply what we learned in the first studio but also I was able to familiarize myself with Illustrator.

On Thursday, it was interesting seeing how everyone was approaching their project as well as the variation of thought that corresponded with the differences in book subject. It also amazed me (again) to hear how well people were at voicing their research insights out loud (public speaking is still not my forté)!

I’m actually really excited to work on this project because it’s one of the first “C” heavy project I have ever done/grids are also a new skill for me. I think that working in a group especially is a great way to become introduced to this new subject and structure of the class. Through collaboration we were able to work with each other to learn and figure out this new subject matter from a new angle.
