About the Author

Anthony Kessel is a public health doctor and an author of children’s books. Over the past eight years Anthony has led the international health work of the country’s national public health agency, and is also a university professor and co-ordinator of the International Programme for Ethics, Public Health and Human Rights at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Anthony has published extensively in areas of public health and medical ethics including a sole author book, Air, the Environment and Public Health (Cambridge University Press, 2006), and writes a personal column, ‘Global Health Experience’ (https://medium.com/@AKessel).

Anthony’s debut children’s book The Amazing Adventures of Perch the Cat (Matador, 2013) follows the adventures of an extraordinary ginger cat and her journey of self-discovery. ‘The Five Clues’: Edie Marble Investigates, is Anthony’s second fiction book, and his first for middle-grade children. Taking place over four weeks, The Five Clues is a real-time murder-mystery thriller and a family drama, combining an exciting chase against time with the inescapable reality of coping with the loss of a loved one. The protagonist of the book is thirteen-year-old detective, Edie Marble, who investigates the apparently accidental death of her mother, a human rights activist. The Five Clues is the first book in the GIRL TAKES OVER series.
