Aaliyah and Kidada Jones

Original story here

The name Kidada Jones would not resonate with today’s generation at all. One barely finds any interview of hers on Youtube, yet, her older pictures show a different side to the life she used to have more than twenty years ago. Jones was what Gen Zeers would call a “it girl”. Even if her name was unknown, she was, like Angie Martinez, a familiar face who was almost present in every hip-hop industry parties organized by moguls at the time during the late 90s and early 2000s.

For the older Millennials, Kidada was one of the latest girlfriends Tupac had, but also one of Aaliyah’s closest friends. The two were inseparable and became the faces of Tommy Hilfiger until Aaliyah Haughton passed away.

Kidada Jones was born in March 22 nd, 1974. She is the daughter of Quincy Jones and his late wife, the actress Peggy Lipton. Her younger sister, Rashida Jones is an actress.

Raised privileged, wealthy in Bel-Air, Kidada struggled as a biracial child. Unlike her sister Rashida who happens to be white though mixed-race, Kidada felt much more rejected by Whites, including by her mother’s Jewish family. This testimony, as tragic as it is, also echoes the one shared by actress Lisa Bonet, who shares the same background as the Jones sisters. When asked about her childhood, Bonet used the term “disdain” to emphasize the treatment she dealt with from her mother’s Jewish side, especially when her black father was never around her in her life.

Peggy Lipton ‘left’, Kidada (center) and Rashida right

Kidada had a slight darker skin tone, and hair which was much more curly than Rashida who was white. This pain endured growing up contributed to be chaotic; she was expelled from ten schools, and failed miserably regarding her grades. Desperate, Kidada asked her mother Peggy Lipton to be sent to a black school where she fit in better. Beautiful, and a typical nepo kid born with privileges despite having any specific talent, Kidada enrolled in the Los Angeles Fashion Institute For Design and Merchandising, a private school she probably did not need in the first place since the notoriety of her parents already sealed her destiny for ever.

Jones, who still works as a fashion designer, began to work with celebrities as she helped them style themselves. In the continuity of nepotism, her diploma served as the ultimate proof that she owed her success to her work and not to her parents’ fame. With or without that diploma, Kidada’s path was already mapped out.

Usher and Kidada for Hilfiger. Usher was, at that time, a new comer who also needed to elevate his status. Working for Tommy was the best opportunity

Quincy Jones hired her as a stylist for the Vibe Magazine he owned and in 1995, she was noticed by Tommy Hilfiger who began collaborating with her. At that time, Kidada was a muse for Hilfiger, but her mission was to expand his clothes to the black, urban sphere. Since childhood, Kidada dreamt of escapism. She was fascinated by black people, black culture, but as a mixed white woman from the Valley who was spoilt and grew up surrounded by Whites all her life, she was eager to have street credibility. Her being linked to the hottest black rappers at the time was easy; she was pretty, a mixed white woman and the daughter of Quincy Jones.

Not much is known about Kidada but her work in the fashion industry helps hiding the true impact that she has in the music industry; she was never a lost kid who found fame in fashion thanks to her talent, but a ruthless businesswoman with deep connections to the most powerful moguls and industries which exist in Hollywood. She was always a powerful woman who evolved in the dark where she helped influence some artists she befriended, especially when these “friends” were black.

Tommy Hilfiger allegedly used her to help him expand his brand onto a more urban, young and black market in the mid-late 90s and early 2000s but her network was deep.

LL COOL J AND THE REVELATION OF THE OCCULT

LL COOL J and Kidada Jones, early 90s/Getty Images

Kidada Jones knows very well about business, power and how to manipulate the game. The men she gravitates around are either about to be extremely famous, are already famous but about to be even more famous or are well established (Leonardo DiCaprio). Even though she is of biracial heritage (black and white), she was mostly sent to operate on the black side where she had a lot of influence in the shadows. As we will see when it comes to her connection to Aaliyah, she was at the forefront, but rather felt more reassured by living in the shadows where the powers dwell.

Between 1992 and 1994, a very young Kidada no one really knew about, was engaged to LL COOL J. The Caribbean-American rapper was one of the most influential men in hip-hop at the time, so much so that his legacy still impacts the generations which came after him. If Cool has no bad things to say personally against Kidada when it comes to their relationship, he clearly stated that he put an end to their relationship due to their differences in terms of spiritual beliefs. In other words, Kidada was involved in witchcraft, was in constant contact with gurus and acted as if she was a part of a cult. He wrote in his autobiography I Make My Own Rules : “ She would go to an ashram, consult a guru, and pray to statues… Before my album 14 Shots to the Dome dropped, Kidada told me she threw some kind of stick into the eternal fire for my album. I was like ‘Yo why did you do that? I didn’t ask you to do that!’ That joint flopped crazily. ‘Oh, well, I’m sorry I cared!’ she said. I had hurt her feelings, but she had hurt me too. I know she meant well, but I just couldn’t get with that. She took me to her guru once and I remember kneeling before this strange young woman who was touching feathers.”

This passage reveals two things. First, Kidada did not seem to be a young girl who tried to explore with the spiritual side. She was already initiated, experimented and she was in a position of control in both the relationship and career of the rapper. Then, she presents as a handler who probably tried to have some mental, spiritual influence over the career and mind of LL COOL J. It is more than possible that she was initiated sooner in mind control techniques at a younger age, hence practices which have been used by the members of the elite in Hollywood.

LL COOL J also probably used Kidada through the Quincy Jones connection in order to elevate his status even more in the black sphere and thus reach the higher status of Hollywood. Finally, following the revelation, the rapper went back to his older love and married her, while Jones moved on and followed through her fashion dreams.

THE YOUNG FLY HOLLYWOOD CLIQUE

According to José Silva, the techniques of mind control include brainwashing, manipulation, deception, hypnosis and persuasion. The handler who controls the victim can also be a victim of ritual abuse, but most of the time, the techniques of manipulation can only be effective if the subject controlled favors a broken background; troubled childhood, victim of sexual abuse, physical abuse. Their psyche will be easier to break in order to rebuild a new persona. This is not a coincidence that many modern industry products came from childhood and teenhood rooted in abuse.

The photos taken above were shot in the summer of 2000, hence a year before Aaliyah died. The title “HOT GIRLS” can be read vividly as the article emphasizes the new IT girls of the year 2000. These hot girls include Aaliyah, Bijou Philips, Kidada and Natane Addock. In her description, Kidada considers that a hot girl is defined by “who she knows and hang out with”.

The photos are not worst than what one can see today, but the girls presented here are once again oversexualized. The photographer was no one other than Hype Williams. The latter was the one who shot Aaliyah’s final video Rock The Boat and it was during this shooting that she passed away during the horrifc plane crash of August 2001. Williams does not grant many interviews, but his work is also connected to the occult. In 2010, he shot the video for Christina Aguilera’s Not Myself Tonight, a pale reproduction of Madonna’s Express Yourself where female bodies are even more sexualized and where an orgy is simulated in a Church. He also shot the videoclip for Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, Videophone in 2009.

All the people who gravitated around Aaliyah by the end of her life, proved to become powerful moguls in the industry today. Aaliyah aspired to be like them before her life was cut short.

In a recent interview from 2021, Damon Dash, the former fiancé of Aaliyah, declared that Hype Williams took the plane which was destined to Aaliyah, a place which had been sent by Lenny Kravitz. If Williams does not speak, his connections are secured in the industry.

Rashida Jones and Nicole Richie knew each other since childhood. They are well connected.
The Jones sisters and Nicole Richie

And Aaliyah began to gravitate and hang out with Kidada once she decided she wanted to elevate her status. Before that, she was already befriending people whose music was surely inappropriate for her age, such as Lil Kim. Once again, Aaliyah had no guidance from her parents and was alone in a industry where women were abused.

As a member of Hollywood’s elite, Kidada Jones chose her friends carefully. Though she enjoyed introducing herself as a relatable young girl who did not do well at school, she was still aware of one thing: she was the daughter of Quincy Jones and was willing to maintain the power of her lineage. The young girls she was connected to included Tamia, Aaliyah (as we will see later), Bijou Philips, Kate Hudson or Nicole Richie. Unsurprisingly, during the reality TV trend which became much more popular in the 2000s, it was clear that the audience members thought they were discovering new celebrities such as Paris Hilton or Nicole Richie for the first time. In reality, these nepo babies, including Kate Hudson daughter of Goldie Hawn, were already connected and hung out in the higher circles of the industry. In the most interesting way, Kidada Jones made friends with other nepo girls who were always much more younger than her in terms of age. Probably to control them even more.

Kidada expressed that her dyslexia made her feel ashamed, especially when her white sister Rashida excelled. The fashion designer was eager to find her power in controlling younger girls either for the sake of the industry or to help her father maintain a certain influence over the black side.

In one 2012 interview with Peggy Lipton and Quincy Jones, the two Jones sisters talked about their childhood and their heritage. Kidada felt alienated by her white side of the family since she was darker, while Rashida was much more accepted for being white. The latter felt Jewish when Kidada did not. Following their parents’ divorce, Kidada went to live with her father. Yet, in one excerpt of the interview, Rashida declares:

About this time, Kidada was replacing me with younger girls from Fairfax who she could lead and be friends with.” Kidada responded: “They were my little sisters, as far as I was concerned.”, to which Rashida added: “ When I’d go to our dad’s house on weekends, eager to see Kidada, the new “little sisters” would be there. She’d be dressing them up like dolls. It hurt! I was jealous!”

A failure in the Valley life, Kidada chose younger girls she could control and influence. “ She’d be dressing them up like dolls” can refer to her being a fashion designer, but it also hints at techniques of dehumanization of the model. Rashida Jones revealed that her sister wanted to lead these girls, thus indicating a desire of dominating them.

Kidada still works in the fashion industry which has been often tied to sexual trafficking, abuse and manipulation. She now designs clothes for Disney couture, hence a company which has damaged the minds of many child stars overtime, through the sexualization of teenagers.

By the end of the 90s and early 00s, Kidada who chose her friends depending on their popularity, befriended model Natane Addock (now Natane Boudreau). The latter was seen partying heavily with black rappers at the time, as she gravitated around Diddy, Jay-Z and Damon Dash. Natane and Kidada were said to be the ones who linked up Aaliyah with Dash. It is not far fetched to understand that Natane was giving herself freely to these rappers, she later reshared with Aaliyah to elevate their respective social stauses.

In the photos taken, Natane, Bijou Phillips, Kidada and Aaliyah all seem intoxicated. Their friendship was based on partying, boys and the industry.

Addock modelling for Victoria’s Secret mid-late 90s

Natane Addock was a model for Victoria’s Secret in the mid 1990s. This company was tied to Jeffrey Epstein and allegations of sexual trafficking when it comes to the models there are known. One of Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein’s friends, Jean-Luc Brunel, was a French businessman who owned a model agency in the 1980s and 1990s. There, models were said to be sexually trafficked and abused by the mogul who oversaw a ring of prostitution. Following Epstein’s arrest and death, Brunel was also found dead in his cells three years ago. Virginia Giuffre claimed that Brunel brought over two twin girls aged 12 in the early 00s who were offered as “gifts” to Epstein who abused them on one of his islands. The identity of these girls remains hidden as their mother was paid off to stay silent. Giuffre says that these children were French and extremely poor.

Like many other models, Natane Addock could have been “offered” to powerful moguls in the industry, as agencies such as Victoria’s Secret among others can serve as good ground to serve the wealthiest men. Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the biggest fans of Victoria’s Secret models. He also briefly dated Kidada Jones around 1999.

Jay-Z, Aaliyah, Bijou Philips and Kidada who look intoxicated and always partying surrounded by powerful men

Some of these girls at the time, such as Bijou Philips, Aaliyah or even Nicole Richie had troubles whether acknowledged or not. Philips had experienced with drugs since she was fourteen, Richie had her own personal issues, and Aaliyah had been abused by R.Kelly. Bijou Philips, came from a father who was accused of sexual molestation by her half sister she never supported at all. Later, she married Danny Masterson, an actor and member of scientology who was found guilty of rape in 2023.

Danny Masterson and Bijou Phillipps

Bijou Phillips has not only become a part of the occult, hence a member of Scientology, but she also used to shame the women who accused her husband of rape, the same way she humiliated her own sister who accused their father of molestation.

Kidada seemed to be the center of a powerful network through whom young popular girls could have a greater impact in their career. She made connections, probably helped her father maintain, break or consolidate connections between the upcoming individuals who dreamt of having a higher access to Hollywood and the powerful moguls who were already established.

It is also not a coincidence that the girls who gravitated around her often came from the elite of the industry, but also from troubled backgrounds. This reality is good and prepares the ground for mind control.

These young girls were daughters of important people in the industry, the same way Aaliyah also came from the industry. Consequently, it was clear that the reason why these young women connected with a much older Kidada Jones had nothing to do with being a part of an elite they already belonged to.

The main interest that Kidada and the girls had, whether they spent the first years of their lives growing together, was partying. Jones was surrounded by troubled young girls but she did not seem to be guiding figure to them as she encouraged them to hang out in spaces where powerful moguls also hung out.

Even if Kidada had a hold onto these younger girls, Aaliyah was the one she rather chose to be her favorite as we will see later on. AALIYAH, THE DARK SIDE AND THE POWERFUL MEN

Industry parties

Aaliyah is a paradox to herself. She was a victim of a sexual predator (R.Kelly) but she was also hungry for power through the exploitation of much more powerful men who would have helped her secure a higher spot in the industry. Many events accelerated by the end of her life. It was clear that between 1998 and the early 2000s, her image had to change; Aaliyah wanted to make it internationally and she also wished she could explore new areas in both music and movies. She was hungry for more and did not want to be stuck in the 90s.

Whether for LL COOL J, Aaliyah, Tupac or the other girls she had under her wing, Kidada Jones was the central point whenever people wanted to elevate their status in the industry, especially when they were black and evolved in the black sphere. This elevation could be made with her through her father Quincy Jones, one of the most powerful moguls and musicians, or simply through her linking powerful men to other girls working in the industry, as she connected groups which had nothing to do with one another except for their desire of being elevated.

Aaliyah, Peggy Lipton, Kidada and Naomi Campbell all met through Kidada. Naomi Campbell was known for her shady actions and most of all, questionable friendships as illustrated by her being pals with Ghislaine Maxwell.
Ghislaine Maxwell, sex trafficker and Naomi
Virginia Giuffre (in circle) present at a party where she was brought to by Ghislaine Maxwell that Naomi attended too. Even if Naomi denies she didn’t know Ghislaine trafficked teenagers, Giuffre asserts that Campbell saw her, since they were at the same party.

Consequently, Kidada was both knowingly used and used people as well for the sake of the elite she worked for. It was through connection with men that Aaliyah found a way to escape from her original niche in order to have a higher status in the black music industry. She was said to have dated Jay-Z, but she was known most of all for being the former fiancée of Damon Dash who was, in the late 90s and 2000s, a powerful black mogul in the hip-hop industry.

“In the hip-hop world, rumours allege that Aaliyah was in the middle of a love triangle which opposed Jay-Z and Damon Dash. When it comes to these rumours, she revealed in 2001: “ “I think rumors are hilarious,” she says. “I don’t pay any attention. It goes in one ear and out the other. When you’re in the business, you hang out with people, and people are like, ‘I wonder, are they seeing each other?’ I never dated Jay. I never dated Ginuwine. Damon and I are very good friends. I’ll keep it at that right now.” It’s hard to believe her when she’s wearing a small platinum and diamond Roc-A-Fella pendant on her neck. She claims that it’s hers and that it’s “just a little symbol of a record” and changes the subject, insisting that she’s briefly dated just two men in her whole life.”

Naomi and Kidada

By the end of One In A Million, Aaliyah made it clear about her desire of changing her sound, image she wanted to be more mature. She had planned to stop collaborating with Timbaland and Missy Elliott and wanted to experiment with other musicians and bands such as Nine Inch Nails so as to produce a much more darker, sinister sound.

Yet, as she grew older, Aaliyah’s image, along with that of the other HOT GIRLS such as Natane, Bijou and more became much more sexualized. In a Vibe interview, she declared in a shocking passage: “ “MY MOTHER ALWAYS SAID I HAD SEX APPEAL,” AALIYAH SAYS. “EVEN WHEN I WAS VERY YOUNG, WHEN I WOULD TAKE PICTURES, THERE WAS SOMETHING SEXUAL ABOUT ME. I DO FEEL SEXY FOR SURE. I ENJOY IT.”

The oversexualization of Aaliyah
The sudden oversexualization of Aaliyah, photo by Dave LaChapelle

Thus words which indicate that she was groomed from a very young age, by her own mother, a failed singer who lived through Aaliyah she was obsessed with. Aaliyah was reduced to the status of sex icon since she was a child, and this sexual exploitation was the key she was encouraged to use in order to secure a good position with powerful black men, hence connections established by Kidada Jones.

Aaliyah was groomed, failed by her mother who capitalized on her. She was sexualized from a young age by her mother who declared that she already had sex appeal at ten, abandoned to the hands of a sexual predator from the the age of twelve. What shocks even more with Aaliyah was her loneliness as she navigated alone in an industry filled with sharks where she was never protected. Unlike her, until she became grown, Beyoncé was under constant protection of her parents Tina and Mathew Knowles who would have never let her collaborate with R.Kelly alone or with the Destiny’s Child.

The R.Kelly scandal was not only covered up by the parents along with the industry to protect the image of the singer, but the parents did not even address the trauma this surely caused in their daughter. As she released her second studio album One In A Million, Aaliyah was only seventeen years old, yet, she was still sexualized and her attitude was much more mature than her age.

At that time, she began to talk about the dark side, about exploring darkness, dark themes and and displayed her attraction to morbid things. This was either the expression of a depressive state as a consequence of the R.Kelly problem or the consequences of rituals performed in the industry. Those themes are also important to an occultist like Kidada Jones.

It was around that time of personal inner chaos that Kidada came into the scene. A few years later Aaliyah died and Kidada Jones disappeared from the face of the industry in order to go back to the dark.

Was Kidada a handler for Aaliyah? In one interview, Kidada declared that Aaliyah was younger than her it is true, and that her mother, Diane allowed her to be Aaliyah’s guardian. One would think that Kidada was encouraging Aaliyah for inner growth, self awareness, inner support, but no, the things which brought them together were the following : “When it comes to her relationship to Aaliyah, she declared:” As soon as we met we just started talking and that was it. We were like four or five years apart. We were into fashion, music, boys, pop culture. Sense of humor, that’s what I would say was our common ground.”

Aaliyah has been forgotten today by the younger generation, yet, she was the becoming a rising star who was crushed at a time when her career was about to explode internationally. Before she passed away, still extremely close to Kidada, she mentioned her interest in the occult, a probable influence of Kidada herself who dabbled in magic, the occult and the dark side.

Kidada was present in the final moments of Tupac in a pivotal moment in his life when it comes to business, and she was also there when Aaliyah was facing the most important and pivotal moment in her career, hence before she had the opportunity to become an international superstar.

2PAC

2pac and Kidada embodied the most problematic connection ever. Tupac was a threat to many; he was under FBI surveillance due to his mother’s activities in the Black Panthers, was a truth speaker and activist for the black American group throughout his life and he exposed the hypocrisy of some of his rap mates in the industry. In other words, his death was perceived as a benefit for several parties who did not want him expose the truth.

However, though 2Pac was a force of nature no one could control, he was also a businessman who was hungry for exploring new opportunities as he understood that the rap game was not always as lucrative as he thought it was . He ventured into acting, it was true, but he also wanted to extend his relations in the industry.

He paid the ultimate price for his connection to Death Row. Just like Aaliyah, by the end of his life, 2pac was attracted to the dark side of life, behaved erratically, was still traumatized by his days in jail and wrong conviction, but he, above all, became even more paranoid over his own death. Though extremely brilliant, Tupac acted like he wanted to die. Upon joining Death Row records, Suge Knight deliberately isolated Shakur from the people who could have talked sense into his mind. Shakur had become self-destructive.

After he attacked Quincy Jones for procreating with white women only and for giving birth to Mulatto kids, Kidada confronted him at one industry party and declared that she fell in love with him afterwards. She declared in news outlets that the rapper was the “love” of her life.

However, Pac never considered her to be the woman of his dreams. His attraction to her seemed to be calculated.Kidada introduced herself as his last fiancée. In reality, she was one of the many girls he used to see and did not recognise her as such. Tupac was, according to singer Keyshia Cole, about to leave Death Row to sign a deal with Quincy Jones.

But the connection with Quincy Jones allegedly did not go as planned. Audios circulated all over Youtube more than ten years ago, where one could hear 2pac accusing Quincy Jones of sexual advances towards him. The rapper also denounced the sexual rituals performed by sme of the most powerful hip-hop artists at the time. If no one knows if this was Tupac’s voice or not, it is now impossible to find these audios again as they were taken away from the Internet.

Kidada Hones was present when Tupac died, as she declared that she went to the hospital and was with him at the hotel room during the fight. However, the next year in 1997, she was seen partying with the same men who considered Tupac an enemy.

If it would be wrong to insinuate that Kidada sacrificed both Tupac and Aaliyah, she remains a powerful and mysterious influencer who managed to have a great impact over the lives of these two artists at the lowest time of their lives, in the final years of their existence on earth.

KIDADA JONES AND THE SCHOOL OF AWAKE

Kidada Jones for Oprah

Kidada coming back to the shadows does not mean she lost power at all. She briefly married in the mid 2000s but she had no children. As stated above, she still works for Disney, a company known for techniques of mind control and the oversexualization of their child actresses. Overtime, Kidada seemed to have turned into a spiritual leader, through her School of Awake program. The website describes it as: “Kidada Jones, fulfills a lifelong dream to create a classroom of her own, teaching self-awareness and authenticity to young women, by writing the book School of Awake: A Girl’s Guide to the Universe.

Courtesy of School of Wake website

The book was made for teenage girls. Once again, Kidada chose much younger girls to have an influence over them as she did during her modeling days in the 1990s and early 2000s, whether she attempted to control LL COOL J or after, when she met Tupac and Aaliyah. On the website, another section reads: “ This unique introduction to mind, body, and spirit consciousness overflows with empowering advice for becoming your best self. It will fill you with a sense of being connected to the entire universe while standing firmly in your one-of-a-kind beauty. Each page brims with powerful, positive energy to help you move through your life with joy and love.”

One design from Kidada’s website School of Awake

The purpose of the “school” focuses on well-being and mental elevation, hence honorable themes which can help a person grow. However, the themes linked to mental well-being are not so far removed from those concerning the problem of mental and psychic control of the most vulnerable individuals. Kidada chooses not adults, but young teenagers at the most vulnerable time of their lives.

On her website, Jones has different sessions for those who wish to elevate their minds. One of the two includes a “Tarot/Angel Card Guidance session of 15 minutes” along with the possibility of booking sessions with tarot readers and one astrologer.

Kidada is thus using astrology, occultism she blends with New Age under the disguise of elevating one’s mind. This fact is even more problematic when the main targets are young girls and teenage girls who are vulnerable and not able to make discernment. She still has the same practices she used to have when with LL COOL J and is now, though retired from the spotlight, still influencing other girls through her own structures which are also linked to the occult.
