How to Make Your TV Smarter
We were dwelling on what to get our newly wed friend, who is a big time engineering tinkerer, as a wedding gift.We didn’t want to go the conventional way of simply getting him the typical Jordanian gift of home appliances he won’t probably use, or money; which in fact he will actually like.
But we thought of something better, aside from him being a big time tinkerer, he gets real enjoyment in watching movies and series for so many hours at a time. (And as a Jordanian tinkerer, you can easily conclude that he won’t use Netflix, but torrents.) However, downloading movies/series to a flash then plugging it to a smart tv and use a not so user-friendly interface can take part of the enjoyment, especially if you have to unplug, download the movie from a laptop and then plug again.
So, we decided to make him a gadget that simply connects to his HDMI port on the TV, with an easy to use application through which he can simple download from the internet using his phone/laptop directly to the gadget and play it instantly on the TV.
But giving him the gift all done and ready wouldn’t be fun for a tinkerer, so, instead, we procured everything that he might need, and handed them to him. Fortunately, he loved it that way, and he can’t stop watching The Blacklist now.
