With Web3 at its nascent stage and highly gaining traction across the globe, EDNS continues to make waves in the Web3 landscape at the forefront, building top-notch Web3 products.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the EDNS DeDrive Webbuilder hosting function. The feature enables DeDrive Webuilder creators to seamlessly connect their designed Websites on the EDNS DeDrive Webbuilder, with a Web2 domain.

In this article, we are going to explore the steps involved when connecting your Website built on DeDrive using the EDNS Web builder to a Web2 domain.

Let’s dive in!

1. Build Your Website on DeDrive

Begin by creating and designing your website using DeDrive’s decentralized web hosting platform with the ready-made exquisite templates at Dedrive Web3 web builder. Ensure your website is ready, saved, and stored on DeDrive for deployment for hosting.

2. Head to the CloudFront of your Domain provider. I.e AWS CloudFront.

  • Log in to your AWS account and navigate to the CloudFront service.

3. And easily create a distribution through these steps.

  • Click on the “Create Distribution” button.
  • Next, head to your Website storage location, copy the URL link (origin), and input the origin of the website that you created on DeDrive as shown below.
  • Then on the same page, disable the cache policy as illustrated in the following pictures.

Disable Web Application Firewall (WAF)

  • Lastly, click on “Create Distribution.”

4. After the distribution is created, you will need to copy the CDN Domain Name and configure route53 on AWS.

Check the steps below:

Now, let’s Configure Route53

  • First, head to the AWS Route 53 service on your dashboard (You can easily do that by using the search bar and then input route 53). You should see this page
  • Next, click on “Hosted Zones.”
  • Then, select the domain you want to associate with your website built with the DeDrive Webbuilder and stored on DeDrive. It’s that simple!

5. After, Create CNAME Record on the consequent page.

  • You only need to click the “Create Record” button.
  • Then, choose CNAME as the record type, paste the CDN domain value you copied earlier as shown below, and create the record.

6. With the record set up, next, request a certificate as demonstrated in these images.

  • First, Click “Edit” at CDN
  • Then, click “Request Certificate” and click Next.
  • On the succeeding page, Input your domain name. The page should be displayed as shown.
  • Then slide down through the page and click “Request.”
  • The certificate will successfully be requested. Next copy the certificate ID as illustrated below.

7. With the previous steps successfully executed and your certificate ID copied, return to Route 53 and finalize the following steps.

  • First, create a new record.
  • Paste your copied certificate ID in the value field.
  • Then, create the record and wait for the certificate to be issued on the prompting page.

You should see the following outcome in a few seconds indicating that the certificate has been issued.

8. Now with the certificate issued you just need to update the CloudFront distribution settings once again, select your issued certificate, and save the changes.

See the pictures below.

Editing the CloudFront distribution settings once again.

Select your issued certificate and save the updated settings at the bottom of this page.

9. Yes! It’s that quick and easy! Next, you only need to deploy your website.

Your website is in deployment.
