In this age of entrepreneurship, it seems like dropping out of college is the best thing to do if you want to become a multimillionaire or someone who changes the world. I mean, how can you not believe it when leaders in the technology industry such as Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs all dropped out.

So why did a choose to finish my degree?

Will.

I didn’t register for Accounting 2 after failing accounting 1 three times because I want to get a great corporate job or believe that a degree will make me any better. I registered for Accounting 2 because I want to test my will.

All my life, I’ve almost made it to great. I’ve always yearned for greatness, I’ve always been close but not close enough. I missed the State finals in the 800 Meter dash by one second, I was so close. But I realized that the reason why I missed State finals by one second is that I was in the slow heat. Winning first in My heat placed me 4th overall because my environment wasn’t pushing me to go faster, to grow.

I graduated with a 5.2 GPA in high school but I didn’t yearn enough to become the valedictorian because I was barely going through the motions of school. I was focused on athletics while my intelligence and creativity were enough to get help me pass with flying colors.

I always knew that I have greatness within me but I never dared to try and tap that greatness.

I am sick of feeling that way, feeling like I can have one thing or another. Why should I have to choose between being an athlete or a great student? Why not both? Why should I choose between getting a degree and launching a successful company?

I decided that I wasn’t going to recreate the story of the greats. I was going to recreate my own success story, a story of will. A story that says, if you fail, fail again, and continuously fail, it is possible to overcome. I want to show the college student struggling like I am that they can get through their circumstance no matter how insurmountable it may seem.

I am not going back to Florida Atlantic University to get a degree, I am going back to test my will, my desire to overcome.

And obtain a Business Administration degree.
