October 2023 Recap

We hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Halloween!

Most of October for EduDAO was spent being community partners at various Ethereum events all across the globe.

Furthermore, we had student organizations hacking away and hosting their own blockchain events which never disappoints! The turnouts were fantastic and we were so pleased to see the success of these events.

Additionally, the team was able to focus on the EduDAO Hacker House that we will be hosting during DevConnect and ETH Istanbul in mid-November! Be sure to follow along for details and join our Telegram group for real-time updates.

ETH London Hackathon

First things first, we were community partners at ETH London where Encode Club put on an amazing hackathon. In support with the Mantle Network, we saw tons of amazing projects and had students from OBS in attendance! If you’re curious to know what projects came out of this hackathon, be sure to check out the thread below.

Prior to ETH London, our Oxford students hosted their very own hackathon through their new initiative, Home DAO. Participants could win prizes from Aleo, Consensys, ChainLink, and GSR.

Hackers were offered 3 tracks: DeFi, General, and ZK. They were also given opportunities to network prior to hacking in order to find a suitable team!

The turnout was great and we are proud to partner with Oxford Blockchain Society as they continue to grow and gain influence in the crypto community!

Bull City Blockchain Battle — presented by Duke Blockchain Club

As mentioned earlier in the blog, student organizations such as Duke Blockchain Club were able to put on a wonderful event with an array of entrepreneurs pitching to take their project to the next level!

Over six teams were carefully selected to present their Web3 creation. Founders received a chance to interact with investors from around the world and network with industry leaders from the Duke Ecosystem.

Each team was allotted 3 minutes to pitch their project accompanied by 5 minutes of Q&A from the judges.

More details can be found on their X profile! > Duke Fuqua Blockchain Club

ETH Hong Kong

We were community partners in Hong Kong this year! This event was jam packed with top-tier speakers and professionals from the web3 space. There was always something new to learn from each speaker which kept things exciting. If you are curious about the details of each day at ETH HK then we encourage you to go give ETH Hong Kong a follow and scroll their feed for all of the event recaps!

ETH Miami

We were delighted to be a community partner at ETH Miami and get some sunshine!

Prior to the event, we were privileged to join a Twitter Space with likeminded DAOs and individuals like College DAO. There were quite a few technical difficulties but it gave us an opportunity to spread our vision for supporting students across the world as they seek to disrupt the crypto industry. College DAO was also able to share more about themselves and their community. We always enjoy connecting with similar motivated folks and it gives us a chance to learn something new from them!

CalHacks

One of the biggest turnouts came from CalHacks which is one of the world’s largest collegiate hackathons, hosted by UC Berkeley! Along with the hackathon, there were no shortage of workshops, booths, events, and networking opportunities. We hope everyone had a blast and the EduDAO team is so proud to be affiliated with top-notch sponsors and hosts!

Special Shoutout

Last but not least, we wanted to give a special shoutout to Uday and the others from USC Blockchain. They participated in a ETH Global Online Hackathon and presented their project called ETH-Line. Check out the video below to see how it works! We thought it was too cool not to share :)
