Why companies shouldn’t make (primarily) social works with the external ambient.

We talk a lot about social responsibility, companies who build projects to support the community, sustainable products and reduction of waste. The impression with a company have to show today is more complex to the expected 10, 20 years ago… More than supply services and products with high quality, the company have to be up to date and carefully with your context and who don’t make this goes to suffering pressure from the customers — who are more conscious.

This external way it’s important and has to be exploring, but what matter build a beautiful house, if the house it’s not organized? Before thinking how to change the environment, the organizations have to more and more work with social responsibility with our own employees. The levels where this happening is so various that the market niches. Starting for an unexceptional case: Is common see companies who offered a good salary, but the life’s quality is terrible. I’m not talking about physical conditions, but about care with the employee while a person with specificities and needs that seek to be met. In this same context, the famous Maslow’s Pyramid, detailing the people needs, no more make sense for the actual lifestyle. Needs in the top of pyramid turn to be a basic prerequisite for the new generation in the market, the purpose sense, friendly environment and benefits are as decisive factors in the company choice.

Make a step back, the goal for all lucrative organization is your own profit. I’m not denying this, nor saying that this is wrong… The problem is in the way that the company chose to reach your goals. The Machiavellian view, that ends justify the means don’t be using here. The means are us, me and all the people who are connected with any organization task. It’s necessary that the management looks for your employee beyond these tasks and supply a healthy environment for the employee and company growth.

Back to the point, today the needs change since the sexual option acceptation, lifestyle and the gender, employee desires and have to be respected in the organizations. Meanwhile, in the patriarchal culture, it’s necessary to create internal strategies to promote gender equality inside the organizations. This maybe looks like a simple problem, but the market still has deep failed in this question, the human resources professional have to work to balance the problem.

Going by this common question and that are present in the day for everyone, a serious problem in the same area is the work analogous to slavery situation. I’m not detailing, but for having an idea, the textile industry is in 4th place in the industry ranking but is the most exposed. The civil construction is in the 1st place with more than 40% the slavery practice. I do not hear about it, but exist and it’s real. An appearance of a perfect house is building many times for companies what doing community work, environment-friendly, and many beautiful words. However, the house is messy.

Looks like opposite examples, but these are de same begin: employees’ objectification and lack of internal social responsibility. It’s extreme cases with different solutions, but in the moment when we starting to look our internal working and value it, we gain a lot of productivity, life’s quality, welfare and monetary gains. After all, satisfied employees do better work, researchers prove this, and a big production hour/employee it’s what all the companies want.

Thinking only in solve social problems in the community, for the media effect, it’s a sand house. Unsatisfied and unhappy employees and a weak management create a negative image so badly to the point of overthrowing the work done. The media it’s not in the big channels hand, from a Facebook personal post to a review in company’s pages can ruin the house building with so much care. You, while HR manager, CEO or whatever your position, you are looking to an organized and strong house, or building a beautiful sand house?
