I would argue that adoption isn’t only about access to the medium but about access to the technology itself. While it’s true that mobile payments are a huge element to widespread usage, adding blockchain technology to mobile payments is still only ok for a fair percentage of the population. Emerging markets are still almost locked out of the blockchain economy because… well, one can’t access crypto if they don’t have a bank, and creating OTC services is a logistical nightmare, and not worth it to users. Small ticket sizes and high velocity of transactions are quite difficult to pull off today (hopefully soon), and that’s what most economies run on.
