Pointless complaints about fact-checking emanate from agendas that consist of substantial misinformation, disinformation and simply lying (a Trump specialty). Hostility toward fact-checking is almost exclusively a conservative response because facts (details, data, information) are not only of little interest but actually undermine much of what passes for their ideology.
Politics, of course, is as much about hyperbole and unsubstantiated generalizations as it is about simplistic, meaningless phrases describing complex issues. So there’s a tendency to pretend fact-checking is (bizarrely) a political ploy or simply irrelevant. And yet, increasing numbers of the electorate actually want fact-checking and seek it out. Most are likely moderate, centrist, practical individuals who value credible information.
