Hi Ted, thanks for the article and for sharing your doubts. In the end, meeting technologies are simply tools, and behind them are people. There is no perfect tool to solve everything. Each one has its function. Even Swiss Army knives. What does exist is the perfect tool for each person. So, what I feel is that you talk about tools that trust people, that overcome control, but you want to control all the tools in the world. Hence, you feel overwhelmed. You’re talking about nature, where nothing controls anything. He thinks that’s perfection. Everything will appear when it has to appear. A gardener’s temptation is to want nature to look its part. And there will be beauty in it. But, as the gardens of Versailles will only show a person’s desire to be superior to nature. But, wild nature will always be unique, unpredictable and beautiful.
For me, the best thing about meeting technologies, and especially sociocracy, is that they allow me to be who I am. I don’t have to pretend to be who I’m not. I can simply be myself, without having a separate life (Parker Palmer) and showing both my lights and all my shadows and shit. That is, that I am much more beautiful being the wild nature that I am than the garden that my Ego would like to be.
Again, thank you for starting this conversation.
