What in the world is Sights?
We’re glad you asked! (You didn’t, but go with it.)
As you can probably tell from that handy lil video, Sights is a classroom-connected sight word platform that teachers and parents use together to help children learn to read.
Sights is comprised of two parts, one for teachers and one for parents:
Teachers use the Sights Dashboard for Teachers, a sight word management dashboard for teachers to manage their sight word lists & levels, test students in class, and track individual student progress.
Parents use the Sights App for Parents, a classroom-connected flashcard app that is synced with the Sights Dashboard for Teachers. The app is used in place of paper flashcards for better at-home studying.
Cool, right?
Cool! But how does Sights work?
Sights works by creating a sight word management tool for teachers that syncs to the sight word app used by parents and students at home. By simplifying at-home studying and allowing teachers to track student’s at-home study progress, children ultimately learn to read sight words 3X faster.
Yep, you read that right.
With Sights, children learn sight words 3 times faster.
Getting started with Sights
To get started, Teacherscreate a classroom and assign a sight word list to it — choose from multiple Dolch and Fry lists, or create your own! Teachers will then distribute their unique classroom code flyer* to parents. The flyer will give parents the instructions they need to download the Sights App for Parents using the code on the flyer. *The classroom code is what connects your dashboard to the Parents App.
As soon as a parent downloads the App and signs up using the classroom code, their child will show up as a student in the Teacher Dashboard. This way, the child’s teacher can see their at-home study progress.
Teachers are responsible for testing students in class and moving students UP to the next level of sight words once they’re ready. As soon as a teacher moves a student to the next level, a push notification is sent to the parent’s phone, and the Sights App for Parents is automatically loaded with the new level’s words.
