Settle in.

I feel as though in this Information Age, the access to information has become more weighty than the information itself. Even beyond the machines and circuitry, but also in conversation and face to face dialogue.

I feel as though we have become so comfortable with being able to record something, or have someone text us, that the actual experience of internalizing what information, emotion, vibe is being shared is passed up. We’ve lost the art of engagement for the ease of access, the retweet, share and save.

I feel it important that we learn the art of settling in and letting go.. to really soak in the spirit of the person we share space with.

Something special happens then. You lose sight of the constraint of time. Distractions fall away. Your mind is no longer held captive by anything else but what and who is presently in front of you.

All of who the person has to offer, your are able to receive. Because in a very literally spiritual way, you’ve made space for them to be.

You’re not about to swipe up to see more, because there’s something really amazing happening here. You’re not about to retweet to your world because right now, your world is in front of you.

I think one of the unique elements of conversation and engaging is, you allow what that person is giving you to become a part of you. You take it on, you take it in, you digest it into your spirit. In order to truly know someone, you must allow yourself to be removed for a moment and let their spirit settle into yours. That can’t happen if you’re making plans on what to do with that information once it’s been received.

Settle in.
