Valley Trail Challenge 50K Ultramarathon

This is my second year that i joined Valley Trail Challenge 50K Ultramarathon. Perfect weather from start to finish not too much heat compared from last year but this year it becomes more technical because of the rain that makes the trail more difficult to run. I twisted my ankle twice while jumping over roots and rocks but as I go further it lessen the chances by learning to run more cautiously by scanning the ground in front–looking up and ahead, and then 2–4 feet in front, and keeping my eye out for any change on the trail like sneaky roots and rocks. The more covered the trail is by leaves, the more careful I land my feet on the ground and adjust my stride to pick up my feet up a little higher and making sure my feet is prepared to land on something that could be unstable. Not too much elevation but the trail becomes more challenging because of mud which I love most.

I reached the finish line at 7hrs. 47mins. and ranked 18th beating my last year time by 5mins. While my wife finished her first trail run in 16K category at 2hrs. 53mins. Again, Thank you to all FrontRunner staff and volunteers led by Sir Jonel Mendoza. Thank you for this race that is in such a beautiful place, at a wonderful time of year, with fabulous support …. Thanks again to all of the volunteers — they were terrific. And to all the sponsors who supported this year Valley Trail Challenge 2016.
