How to Detect Fake News in Real-Time
Krishna Bharat

The question of what to be done once detected should be part of this discussion. If deletion, then the consequences of false detection are relatively high. If on the other hand the story is just flagged as ‘possibly fake’ or ‘check other sources’ the consequences of a false positive are mitigated. Also, such a flagging system, unlike deletion, has an openness that allows others to see the consequences of the algorithm’s action.

Huge difference in what the social consequences are, and on the accessibility of what is happening. A system that flags may be acceptable, whereas on that deletes is likely always unacceptable.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
