Fashion + Duality

I have spent a lot of time thinking about the duality of products made for people with disabilities. So often a product made for a person with a disability is highly stigmatizing. But then you realize that all products, when made sensitively for one need will benefit a larger, oftentimes contradictory population. Take the use of wheelchair ramps by skateboarders. Check out Slope : Intercept by Sara Hendren. Her interest in the multipurpose is indicative of the function of fashion. It is my belief that duality is the future of retail… but first the fashion industry needs to find ways to tap into it.
