Rambling
I walk inside a Starbucks and ask for a latte, tall, please.
People are always rushing. Sleeping is not a necessity anymore, it became a luxury. The day doesn’t have enough hours, so everyone needs a cup of coffee to keep going. This Starbucks used to have a little story on the wall, framed like a painting, about observing the people who went in there who had to have their coffees and something about rushing, and another something about childhood and the smell of coffee. I only stopped to read it once. It started as an observation and became nostalgic until it just rambled on, as if the author forgot what was the point of that story.
I honestly prefer a good cup of tea with hot milk added in moderation, if the tea is black. Red tea or green tea or white tea, or any tea that isn’t black doesn’t go so well with milk.
Seems like I too started missing the point.
Quick meetings and discussions usually happen during a cup of coffee. People will often say: “let’s have a cup of coffee!” and the ritual starts at the water being put to boil, then the coffee to brew, and for distracted people it can end with a full cup of cold coffee. Someone makes a remark or offers an idea for a new management program, a new mobile application. Or maybe the new girl’s hair is a preferred topic. These meetings don’t need to be important, you see, but it’s definitely rushed. Is it the coffee? Maybe the acceleration in the metabolism also accelerates our coffee breaks. It’s funny how sometimes it makes people hyper and anxious and sleepless, with wide eyes and shaky hands…
Wait, I’m missing the point again. Rambling on, my coffee has gone cold.
