How we ran the MultiToken Giveaway in partnership with Snovio, DomRaider and Hamster Marketplace
ICO projects DomRaider, Hamster Marketplace and Snovio just completed their new airdrop campaign together. This is how we made it happen.
In the last few years, airdrops have become one of the easiest ways to promote digital goods.
Airdrop campaigns can raise awareness about the project and attract a lot of new users. In the world of marketing, the word ‘free’ is magical. Offering free stuff can help you engage even the sceptics and increase your reach. However, most ICOs are not just looking to attract more people, they want to build a loyal community and expand their token sales.
Constructing the concept
This is why we at egor.company came up with the idea of the MultiToken Giveaway. Unlike other airdrops, we aimed not just to attract a wider audience but to engage those who have already invested in ICO projects. Our idea was to offer bonuses to the users who currently owned substantial amounts of tokens. The test version was launched with great help from our friends at DomRaider, Hamster Marketplace and Snovio. Each project dedicated giveaway tokens to the biggest holders of the other two. Together they established the Multi Token Giveaway pool of DRT, HMT and SNOV tokens, with a combined worth of $50,000.
Our main goal was to support the token holders and expand the audience reach by combining their respective communities.
Back in 2017, DomRaider became one of the biggest ICOs of the year, successfully raising funds for its blockchain based auctions platform, the first version of which is now operating at auctionity.com. This is a very promising project and we’re happy to deliver some of their tokens to you.
Hamster Marketplace is a next-gen blockchain trading platform that reduces the costs and cuts out the middleman in order to provide a more inclusive business environment for the small gadget vendors, inventors and DIY. This is an exciting opportunity to those who prefer getting early access to new technologies and not having to pay more just for a brand name.
The blockchain based lead generation service Snovio has proved itself profitable with a 3.5x return on its ICO price already. You can currently access the Google Chrome extension to extract email addresses from web pages. The next big thing the Snovio team is developing now is their Marketplace and Snovian.Space — a contact sharing crypto platform which allows clients and professionals to find each other, make contact and get paid.
To ensure that the MultiToken Giveaway would become more than just an airdrop, but rather a cross-marketing campaign, all three companies agreed to simultaneously announce the start of this campaign and promote each other through social media, telegram communities and newsletters.
Behind the scenes of the MultiToken Giveaway
To launch the MultiToken Giveaway, egor.company provided all the technical, content and design services:
- Wrote the terms and conditions of the Giveaway
- Set up a form collecting user applications
- Processed the data
- Offered technical support
- Provided written content for media announcements and newsletters
But of course, we had to negotiate the deal with all three parties first.
To collect the user applications, we set up a simple Google form. We chose this tool because of its reliability: we needed to be sure no data would be lost.
- Naturally, we made sure that the application form and the confirmation letters featured all three logos
The results went directly into Google Spreadsheets.
To process the given information we converted the raw data using the Google App Script platform, this allowed us to have newsletters automatically delivered to participants’ email addresses. We programmed processing of the submitted data, to sort applications in real-time according to the amount of tokens the applicants were holding, which enabled us to monitor the transaction flow. We turned to etherscan.io — a service that provides the publicly available data for scanning. With Hamster, we worked in collaboration with their programmers who granted us API access.
To support the Giveaway participants we created a joint Telegram chat where we presented all three projects and our representatives for the sake of our users.
Launch of the MultiToken Giveaway
The campaign began on March 14th and lasted for 10 days.
On March 14th our drafted announcements were used for the newsletters by Hamster Marketplace and Snovio. Later both companies shared announcements through their social media including Snovio Facebook page, Hamster Facebook page, their Twitter accounts and Telegram chats. The second day of the Giveaway was all about DomRaider stepping in. Their newsletter and social media announcements were deployed on March 15th. They shared news with their subscribers on Domraider Facebook page as well as on Twitter. Domraider also published an article detailing the joint project.
In total the three companies issued newsletters reaching 40,000 subscribers in total and echoed them in the social media announcements via Facebook pages with total 60,000 likes, Twitter accounts (18,000 followers) and Telegram groups (13,000 subscribers).
Those who already had a certain amount of tokens in their wallet, were eligible to apply for the airdrop. We decided to set the bar at 20,000 DRT, 20,000 SNOV and 300 HMT respectively. On March 14th 300 HMT amounted to approximately $600. According to etherscan.io, at that time around 500 DRT and SNOV holders could qualify. There was no public information regarding the HMT price as their token sale is still on.
A fourth partner who backed down
Although the MultiToken Giveaway was initiated by only three projects, there was an understanding from the very beginning that they’re ready to consider other crypto projects to join the campaign. It implied more free tokens in the Token Pool and more coverage for the cross-marketing campaign.
But the final decision needed to be unanimous. Quite a few projects were actually under consideration until literally the last day of the campaign. Admittedly, the executive team at egor.company may have sighed with relief when we could not come to an agreement on accepting the fourth project during this first Giveaway because it meant doubling the work.
The conclusion of the MultiToken Giveaway
The day after the campaign ended, we put out Google Tables with the final results. Overall, more than 700 users submitted their applications through the registration form. Among the SNOV and DRT token holders, more than 250 met the requirements for the Giveaway and are going to receive their Airdrop.
Under the terms of the program, they will be able to access their bonus tokens before March 31.
Additionally, more than 400 users will get complimentary tokens from Snovio and Hamster Marketplace by joining the Telegram groups at https://t.me/MultiTokenGiveaway and https://t.me/snovio_ico as part of a bounty program.
The Newsletter for Tomorrow
The final newsletter summarizing the campaign will be sent to DomRaider, Hamster Marketplace and Snovio customers before 30 March. It’s hard to evaluate the effectiveness of the advertising yet.
The recent number of token holders of DomRaider and Snovio who own 20,000 tokens or more has remarkably increased, reaching respectively, 766 DRT and 1943 SNOV holders as of March 28 up from the around 500–550 just two weeks ago in March 14.
Other than just reporting the numbers, there are more conclusions to be made. Most importantly, we realized that for us, it doesn’t necessarily have to be an Airdrop. We gained the most valuable experience in getting different ICOs and other crypto projects to collaborate and work with each other, share tokens and audiences to achieve their goals together.
We’re beginning to plan the MultiToken-2 Event in April 2018 now. We’re going to show yet another example of how crypto projects can gain strength by collaborating and sharing instead of dividing and competing.
We’re moving forward: progressing from the airdrop concept towards broader cross-marketing campaigns in cooperation with different types of crypto projects.
