PLANNING MY FUNERAL

It has come to this

I have come to realize that one day this will end eventually

I am trying to prepare for it

For this world scarcely has anything to offer me

Even if I had all its riches

It can’t prevent the inevitable

I have no love for your culture of waste

Make sure things stay simple.

For I will finally put off this filthy tabernacle in anticipation of a better one

All it deserves is to be silently placed in the ground, from whence it came

Let everything at that gathering speak the message I upheld.

Let my epitaph be a statement of my purpose during my earthly sojourn

‘He knew Christ and he made him known’.

For then I will be with the great Apostle Paul.

That seemingly mad man, who uttered those famous words

‘For me to live is Christ and to die is gain’

There will be no need for tears, for I will be in a better place.

And it is my earnest desire that we will all be together in that place someday.

Do not eulogize me at the funeral, rather speak of my Christ

For it will warm my heart to know that souls were made alive at my death

Finally in respect of my Father land, the Nigerian jollof must be served to the guests.
