So I kinda find myself wondering: what kind of terms have you worked out with the people lending y’all this large sum? How aggressive are they going to be about wanting you to pay it back, both in the next few years and in the long run? How likely is paying this back to take the form of taking a bigger cut from creators getting paid?

I mean, don’t get me wrong: I love Patreon, it’s let me pay my rent drawing comics about lesbian robots with Philip K Dick problems. But as more huge sums of money get involved there may be more people involved who want nothing more than A Return On Their Investment out of Patreon, regardless of whether or not that’s achievable in a way that’s healthy for the creators.
