Here’s a simple and delicious vanilla cake recipe:

### Ingredients:
- **1 cup (225g) unsalted butter**, softened to room temperature
- **1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar**
- **4 large eggs**, at room temperature
- **2 ½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour**
- **1 tablespoon baking powder**
- **½ teaspoon salt**
- **1 cup (240ml) whole milk**, at room temperature
- **2 teaspoons vanilla extract**

### Instructions:

1. **Preheat the Oven**:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.

2. **Mix Dry Ingredients**:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

3. **Cream Butter and Sugar**:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

4. **Add Eggs**:
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Make sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.

5. **Incorporate Dry Ingredients and Milk**:
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture in three parts, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the flour mixture. Beat until just combined after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.

6. **Bake the Cake**:
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove the cakes from the pans and let them cool completely on a wire rack.

7. **Frost and Serve**:
- Once the cakes are completely cool, frost with your favorite frosting, such as vanilla buttercream or cream cheese frosting.

### Tips:
- Make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter and even baking.
- You can add a touch of almond extract (about ½ teaspoon) for a slightly different flavor.

Enjoy your homemade vanilla cake!
