Great article and I agree 100%.

In a way both sides are right, there is indeed a shortage, but it’s not as bad as many think. My impression is that a lot of developers either work for themselves, contract or keep moving until they find a decent place and once that happens you won’t get them to leave again easily.

Companies who understand what developers need will always get great people while those who didn’t get the memo yet will keep complaining how they can’t find anyone for their shitty support jobs.
