The curious case of ICT education in England

ICT education in schools in England is going through a revolution of sorts, but evidence indicates that very few students want to be a part of it.

Numbers that have arrived from the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation highlight only a marginal rise in the number of students taking the new computer science course.

Just as one would expect, these numbers have got the educational experts to show their concern.

The British Computer Society warns the number studying for a computing qualification could go down to half by 2020.

The organisation — which is the professional body for the IT industry mentioned that a failure to implement this would be no less than a disaster for the economy. Read more…
