Brilliant response. My own problem with this study is simply that it looks at 4 landmark, prestige-conferring, “elite” journals in the field and find that they are still, then as now, “elitist” and exclusionary. I don’t need a study for that, although it’s always useful to have that data at hand. In short, with you I agree that what we need, and even sort of already have, now are new knowledge communities, and furthermore, communities NOT invested in traditional systems of conferring “privilege,” prestige, and the like.
