A Quick Note to Self

  • a poem for you from June

I am sitting in your apartment

it’s cool for the summer, yet July is upon us

and after that, the dog days of summer

where nothing makes sense

So here is this,

before I lose it,

When I went home this morning, I smelled like you

I’ve never smelled like someone else before.

but I liked that I reminded me of you.

I know that

You are a sigh of relief

a soft smile across the kitchen table

a chin upon my shoulder, when I can’t carry the world anymore

It’s still too new

to piece together

something whole

but despite it, I know it’s beautiful.
