Corona-Virus (Covid-19) Pandemic

Coronavirus originated in November 2019 from Wuhan, China. Unfortunately, the virus spread around the globe within a couple of months, causing chaos among the human race. Thousands of deaths have been reported ever since as the search for a vaccine continues.

How is Covid-19 affecting our daily lives?

Coronavirus has imposed medical emergencies around the globe. As the virus spreads from person to person, social interaction can accelerate the outbreak of this infection. People are forced to stay at home for their sound so they may not infect themselves. While causing a global crisis, this disease has affected the economic progress of every country as the markets and workplaces shut down.

Technology Playing its Part during the Global crisis:

Technology has become an essential part of our lives. From solaces of our bedrooms to responsibilities of workplaces, technology has been playing its role by making our lives more feasible and productive.

During these times of crisis, technology has been playing its essential role from basic to professional levels. Many services are being carried out by the use of technology that ensures safety and reliability.

Medical Facilities can diagnose and treat infected patients with the help of healthcare technology such as MRI scanners and CT scan machines. Medical blood tests to check the coronavirus status have been made possible using a clinical blood testing analyzer.

Pharmaceuticals have been using advanced technology to test and develop vaccines and drugs that may eliminate or provide relief from infection caused by this virus.

Robotic surgery can assist the lungs transplant procedure of the patients infected by the Covid-19 virus.

Online teaching platforms have made it possible for students around the globe to stay on track with the learning process remotely from their homes.

Video Conferences have made the discussion process easier for coworkers to discuss the matters of their organization or call meetings on a single platform while being connected through the internet.

Social Media is another product of our global village, the internet, playing a vital role in raising awareness among its users about how to keep themselves secure from this deadly virus. People who have experienced covid-19 share their experiences and symptoms to educate others. Sharing this information leads to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Emerging Technologies

Pakistani Students developed Covid-19 diagnostic tool

Furthermore, many developers have been working to introduce innovative methods to tackle this global crisis. The diagnosing process is no less than a suicide mission as the medical staff who tests the infected patient also have chances to receive the virus from them.

To tackle this situation, Two Pakistani Students, Aleem and Rahul from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI), have developed an AI-based tool that can diagnose Covid-19 with 92% accuracy. This technology is a product of Artificial Intelligence that can detect coronavirus particles with the help of Computed Tomography (CT) scan technology. This invention can provide services by improvising the diagnosis system in the field of medical sciences.
