European IT Certification Academy Introduction

The European IT Certification Academy (EITCA) operates under the European IT Certification (EITC) framework.

The European IT Certification framework was established in 2008 as a vendor-independent standard designed to provide wide-reaching, online certification of digital skills and competencies across numerous professional IT specializations. The European IT Certification Institute (EITCI Institute), which governs and accredits this framework, is an international nonprofit organization incorporated as an Association Without Profit Purpose (ASBL) under Title III of Belgian law, conferring legal personality to nonprofit organizations and public utility institutions.

EITCI Institute was founded to drive the advancement of the information society and reduce digital exclusion by developing and disseminating the European IT Certification standard. Its efforts improve accessibility to IT skills certification for individuals within the EU and worldwide. With over 14 years of operation, EITCI has built one of the few vendor-independent digital skills certification frameworks on a global scale, originating from the EU.

In addition to developing the curricula for its certification programs, EITCI contributes to the standardization of emerging IT domains, collaborating with international standards organizations and supporting the European Commission’s Horizon program. Although the Institute’s principal mission lies in the development and distribution of the European IT Certification framework, it is also engaged in technical standardization and technology certification for emerging fields. This includes areas such as AI in vital sectors (e.g., AI-assisted smart energy, https://eitci.org/technology-certification/sesg) and advanced quantum information and communication technology (https://eitci.org/technology-certification/qsg), thereby strengthening its AI and cybersecurity certification offerings.

Since 2008, the European IT Certification Institute has facilitated access to educational resources in digital technologies. Its initiatives have ranged from involvement in ESF- and ERDF-funded projects that produce and freely distribute open-access instructional materials, to partnerships with individual experts who publish didactic content in an open-access format. These endeavors have enabled large-scale dissemination of educational resources on digital technologies, some of which also serve as referenced materials for relevant certification program curricula.

The European IT Certification curricula are conceived, developed, approved, and regularly updated by specialists in their respective fields, including academic experts and industry practitioners. To further support its certification candidates, EITCI offers unlimited online consultations, ensuring that participants have the guidance they need to thoroughly prepare for their certification examinations.

Time hop: 8 years ago I was a guest of the current Prime Minister Alexander De Croo who was committed to the digitization of governments, among other things. It was then Toon Vanagt who had given up his seat for me so that I could tell something about dinosaurs in government and that in addition to technology, a system change is also needed to successfully succeed in the mission.

Now, 8 years later, I have to go back to study. An AI and machine learning training course through the EITCA Academy. Gain insight into how AI effectively has the potential to disrupt the way we work and act. From e-commerce to even our democracy. I am very curious about tomorrow, because everything is changing step by step every day.

I am also looking forward to March 24. Then there is a meetup (Future of Work in Belgium) where I will do a workshop and dialogue on this topic together with Patrick Van Renterghem.

EITCA/AI Artificial Intelligence Academy Certification Programme

For me as a technical layman it is good to be fully immersed in that matter. I notice that my job as a change manager will change in such a way that it will be necessary to at least have some notions of how the technology works and to speak the language. Especially when organizations evolve into ecosystems, a common language and mutual understanding of professional domains is almost crucial. In my opinion, the value of this certificate is just like with all other courses: what you ultimately do with it. You have to be extremely disciplined to follow this: everything is given through videos and communities are also advised to literally educate yourself. Stupid example: I lost at least hours yesterday connecting Tensorflow to my Python notebook from Anaconda. I work with Mac and apparently the M1 chip is not fully compatible with Tensorflow. So yes, there you are without a flesh and blood mentor 😅 In the end, a prompt on chatGPT helped me and I succeeded.

I have successfully completed the European IT Certification Institute license in Artificial Intelligence.

The program includes 12 courses developed in collaboration with Google Cloud and covers all the basic concepts of AI and ML, moving on to concepts in advanced domains such as quantum ML. The program focuses more on traditional ML and is a strong course to boost your academic and practical knowledge base.

My learnings from this program include:
1-Revision of the baseline concepts
2-Implementation strategies and the ways to handle the challenges
3-Practical Implications and Utilization Schemes

The only thing that I found challenging was while this is a generalized program, it focused on google cloud platform more than obvious.
