Thank you, Aphrodite (great name, by the way). I agree, a healthy support network makes difficult times so much easier, and it’s something Western culture has largely abandoned in favour of rampant individualism and a focus on the nuclear family. Our situation is made more difficult by complicated family relationships, as well as living a two-hour drive away from friends — having a very small support network is definitely less than ideal. Things are slowly improving, though, and I’m sure we’re through the worst of it, it’s just a matter of weathering the rough patches for a bit longer.
