DISC Day

Last Friday, we had a training for DISC instead of our usual Friday Labs. DISC is a behavioral assessment that can be used to “help develop course of action on a leadership team.” Basically, it’s a personality test that helps you figure out how you relate to different people and situations.

Our trainer — Daniel Martin — brought great energy and answered a bunch of questions from our group. Our afternoon session consisted of engineers, so it was interesting to see the distribution of our results from the assessment — most of us were heavy on the “C” (Compliance), which apparently is typical for people in analytical fields.

Overall, it was a good experience, and it was helpful to think about how powerful it could be to understand how our teammates function and thus tailor our interactions and teamwork to accommodate our differences.
