I want to preface that I still have faith in humanity. I’m not sure what has happened to Customer Service, overall but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. Yesterday or a few days ago, I was in Target with my wife, who is wheelchair-bound and suffers from Huntington’s disease. She needed to use the bathroom, and I needed a place to change her pull-up. I know Target has toilets that are accessible for families, and I can go in there with her. There is a button that says Press for Team Member or something. And I press the button, and it says Team Member will be there within 60 seconds or a minute. Fast forward five times from pressing the button, and no one showed up. I approached another Team Member who came out of the bathroom, and I asked him if he could get someone to help my wife and me get into the family bathroom so I could change her. He says Man, I’m on my break, and I don’t have a walkie-talkie and walks away. What the fuck? I yelled at him and said are you kidding me? I was so loud that a security or loss prevention Team Member heard me screaming and entered the hallway.
I said could you get someone to open the door we waited another 5 minutes, and finally, a Team Member came and opened the door.
Flash forward to today. I was in Safeway in Boulder, getting just a coffee from the Starbucks kiosk. I went to the customer service desk and waited there for, I don’t know, 7 to 10 minutes to get the code to use the bathroom. Being 57, my bladder is not as strong as in my 20s and 30s. I digress.
