Showing up for single-payer health care

One man told me about his daughter with type 1 diabetes. Another talked about his nephew, struggling with cancer. A woman recounted her life’s work as a physician.

Everywhere I went this weekend, I heard different stories with the same ending: health care should be a right in this country.

Team Crowe had a packed, energizing schedule this weekend. We started early with an 8 a.m. Saturday river cleanup project in Kerrville. After that, I had meetings and meet-and-greet events in Kerrville, San Antonio, and New Braunfels. (You can follow our campaign travels on Instagram.) Volunteers elsewhere in the district knocked on doors and talked with their neighbors about restoring liberty and justice — for all.

At every single stop, people told me they wanted a representative who will fight for single-payer health care and Medicare For All.

In fact, most people I spoke to this weekend said that single-payer health care was their top priority. I hear you loud and clear, Central Texas.

That’s why I’m not waiting until we beat Lamar Smith to fight for your right to health care. That’s why I was willing to risk arrest earlier this month to protest the GOP’s attempt to kick 22 million people off their health insurance.

That’s why you’ll continue to see me speaking out and fighting for Medicare For All — because unlike our current congressman, I know it’s my job to show up in your community and listen to your priorities.

We’ll continue to travel around the district listening to your stories. While we do that, we must keep the pressure on our current officials.Call Senator Ted Cruz (202) 224–5922 and Senator John Cornyn (202) 224–2934 today and let them know you oppose kicking people off their health insurance and that you want Medicare For All.

I’m proud to be in this fight by your side. See you on the road.
