Another factor is the “Carbonate compensation depth.” There is a temperature/pH level which controls the carbon carrying capacity of sea water. Basically, if the oceans become warmer, the carbon carrying capacity of water drops and more carbon falls out of suspension in the sea water. Carbon rains out as calcium carbonate CaC03.
