The Trip to Mars — Why it’s unnecessary

Mars . . . there’s no ‘there' there.
There’s no good reason to go to Mars. Even if there is a worst case nuclear war on earth, Mars is still more inhospitable than a totally AFU earth.
If all the food and crop lands were poisoned and the few survivors needed to grow food in green houses, green houses on earth typically don’t need supplemental heat in most locations.
If all the water was poisoned and the survivors needed to drink cleaned piss, there is equipment available on earth to build and maintain the filtration systems.
The cost of getting cargo safely delivered to Mars is in the millions of dollars per pound. Converted to water, that’s millions of dollars per pint. Just how many pints do you think you’ll be needing?
