Or it could very well be that the Haitian people are not unhappy with modern Haiti. If the people were unhappy with their country the people would change their country. Since Haiti ain’t changing, there ain’t a problem.

Imposing American values on other peoples is colonialism all over again. You or I might be unhappy living in modern Haiti, but we have absolutely no business meddling in Haiti nor the Haitian people’s business.

Review in your mind the Disney movie Pocahontas. Imagine if Pocahontas were Haitian and you were John Smith swooping in (like a self imagined angel) to impose American values upon the people . . . by force if necessary.
