This is the problem with approaches like using Best Sellers or enormous generic sales banner as a headline to try to lure buyers in.
This approach is so ubiquitous because it’s minimum effort with (potential) maximum reward. But I agree — by doing a softer approach which is more likely to work, and crucially *personalizing* each step to be more appealing and attractive to the potential buyer, you end up with a much higher conversion rate.
