Crowdhackathon Insurance 3: New ideas and innovative applications in the field of insurance.

The two-day innovation marathon “Crowdhackathon Insurance 3”, organized by Ethos Media and Crowdpolicy Open Innovation was successfully held on 9–10 February 2019 at Innovathens powered by Samsung.

10 teams participated in Crowdhackathon Insurance 3. In two days, they implemented and presented innovative applications in the field of insurance aiming to promote digital transformation in insurance services.

Insurance 3 began on Saturday, February 9th, 2019, with the Kick Off Meeting during which Mr. Georgios Karamanolis, CTO/CIO of Crowdpolicy, briefly presented the technical specifications and the process.

It is worth noting that the high-level ideas presented by the teams made it difficult for the Evaluation Committee to reach a decision.

Out of the 10 ideas presented on Sunday, February 9th, 2019, five won cash prizes worth € 4,500 as well as three-month consulting support for an Insurtech Fast Track Accelerator program sponsored by Crowdpolicy Open Innovation.

The Heart-Beat team won first place and was awarded € 2,000. The team presented a taxi beat for doctors and emergencies. The client sends a distress call using a button and is connected to the nearest doctor for immediate intervention.

The Blockchain@Insurtech team won second place and was awarded € 1,500. The team presented an application addressing the issue of Insurance on-demand, i.e. direct and short-term insurance using blockchain technology.

The SmartInsurance team won third place and was awarded € 1,000. The team implemented an application addressing the issue of late notification and payment of companies and intermediaries once an insurance policy has been paid.

The teams AIIrsuRNNS and Irmos won fourth place and a place in the three-month acceleration program by Crowdpolicy.

The AIIrsuRRNS team presented a roboadvisor that facilitates insurers’ work by suggesting appropriate programs to each customer or potential customer, taking into account multiple criteria.

The Irmos Team presented a data collection and analysis platform for insurance companies.

It is important to mention that the event was supported by leading companies in the field of insurance as well as the broader insurance community.
