Elfin Academy — A Guide to Link MetaMask to Elfin Kingdom
MetaMask is a free crypto wallet software that can be connected to virtually any Ethereum-based platform. It allows users to store and transact any Ethereum-based (ERC-20) token. It is available as a browser extension (Chrome and Firefox) or a mobile app. It is also very simple to use and provides a secure way to connect to blockchain-based applications.
MetaMask is compatible with several browsers; you can choose the one that suits you best. Elfin Kingdom’s game is optimized for Google Chrome. Thus, for the purposes of this tutorial we will use the Google Chrome version, but instructions will be similar for other browsers.
Installing and Setting up MetaMask
First things first, got to the MetaMask site: https://metamask.io/download/.
After you choose your desired browser, click on “Install MetaMask for…”. In the case of Google Chrome, you will be redirected to the Chrome Web Store. Then, click on “Add to Chrome” and your download will start.
After your successful download, you will be able to start the set up process. You will be redirected to the following screen, just click “Get Started”
MetaMaks then will ask you if you are new to the software. If you don’t have a MetaMask wallet, you should create a wallet and agree with the terms of use.
Next, you will have to choose your password. There is a minimum of 8 characters. It’s important to use a strong password, maybe add some special characters to it, but that you can remember. Every time you close your browser and reopen it, when you use MetaMak it will ask you to input your password to verify it’s you.
Then MetaMask offers you an intro video, which we recommend beginners to watch. In this video users can understand what the Security Recovery Phrase is and how to keep your wallet safe.
When you click “Next”, the software will provide you with your Security Recovery Phrase. It’s important to write it down somewhere safe that is always available to you or follow the tips that MetaMask provides you.
Once you finish storing the Secret Recovery Phrase, you are ready to use your MetaMask. You will be able to send and receive funds.
Configure your Wallet for Binance Smart Chain
You may realize that the default network your wallet is connected to is Ethereum. We are going to show you how to change it to the Binance Smart Chain Mainnet, because Elfin Kingdom is developed on this network. You can switch networks as you link your wallet to different dapps. Make sure it is always one you trust.
To add a new network, you need to go to your account settings.
In the “Network Section you will be able to add the Binance Smart Chain Mainnet manually.
Below are the parameters to fill in and save:
Network Name: Smart Chain
New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
ChainID: 56
Symbol: BNB
Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com
After saving the network, you will be able to see on your main page that you have successfully added the network and your balance.
Linking your MetaMask to Elfin Kingdom
First go to the Elfin Kingdom game site: https://game.elfinkingdom.com/.
Read the notice carefully. Once you agree, click on the MetaMask icon. A pop-up will appear asking you to connect your wallet to the game.
Connect and you will be ready to go! One last reminder, make sure to have transferred some BNB in order to pay gas fees for registration and daily quests.
