In what was a very up & down season for the BU Men’s Hockey team, there were obviously tons of takeaways and questions. Who’s staying and who’s going? What can we analyze from Albie O’Connell’s first season as head coach? What are expectations for next year? While there are no clear answers to these questions, we can look at the main positives and negatives of the 2018–19 season.

3 Up

  1. Secondary Scoring: Going into this season, I doubt many fans would have pinned Pat Curry as a first line winger by the end of the season but there was no denying he earned that spot. Curry put together a very strong season and just added another layer of depth to this team that was struggling to score early on. Every aspect of his game looked better, from his puck handling to his shot. Similarly, a jump in production from Ty Amonte was another big benefit to this team. Amonte definitely established himself as one of the most clutch players on this squad, and centered a 3rd line that had constant moving pieces all season long. Some others who had a “second-season” jump were David Farrance, Logan Cockerill, and Cam Crotty, but we expected increased production from these highly-talented draft picks.
