Morning After Thoughts (2/10/16)
Maybe I’ll make this a usual feature…some quick thoughts on the NH primary:
1. Kasich’s win does more to propel Trump to the nomination than any help to Kasich. By keeping the “establishment” vote divided, Trump will just keep winning.
2. People were so thrilled at a non-Trump/Cruz win in Iowa they leapt at promoting Rubio w/o thinking it through… (Kasich won’t be the nominee, so don’t expect the same excitement)
3. Christie, who should have been disqualified for the presidency (not because of Bridgegate, but because of another Hudson River related issue…stopping construction of the needed tunnels) will finally waddle back to NJ and find new ways to screw that state up.
4. If Bernie doesn’t care that he’s Jewish, neither do I.
5. SC primary is notorious for ugliness (Bush pushing the invented storyline about McCain’s adopted daughter, Bill Clinton losing his sh*t, etc). This year could be the worst of the worst. Expect Bush — and his super PAC — to do his worst.
8. Person with the most to win (and lose) in SC is Bush.
6. Kasich coming in second was the only “surprise” last night. Trump and Bernie had been projected to win NH for weeks/months.
7. It’s a delegate race, not a popularity race — something HRC learned in ‘08.
8. HRC is in trouble, but not in some kind of death spiral. Media is just following the “exciting storyline”.
9. First 2 weeks of March are gonna be hella interesting.
10. How much do you suppose Uncle Joey B. regrets not running?
