Morning After Thoughts (2/2/16)
Rather than reply to emails, I’m going to “shout from the rooftop” with my quick thoughts on the caucuses.
1. The democratic side’s ritual of standing in groups and being “recruited” to others to represent support for a candidate is insane.
2. The entire primary/caucus system should work on a rotational basis so the same state is not first each cycle (particularly a state as unrepresentative of the changes in america’s demographics)
3. Donald doesn’t like losing and anyone watching his speech who thinks he’s gonna play this whole process out if he continues to lose is insane.
4. Beware Rubio. Seems that the “establishment” has found their man.
5. Christie is done if he doesn’t finish top 3 in NH (which he won’t)
6. Bernie only getting a virtual tie in a state where 43% of likely caucus goers self identify as socialists, just isn’t good enough.
7. Remember when Jeb! was a thing? Apparently he spent nearly $3,000 per vote received last night.
8. Even Bernie’s likely win in NH doesn’t change the reality that HRC is going to be the nominee. Past NH, the calendar is incredibly favorable to her.
9. Would love to see the stat of what percentage of Iowa’s economy is directly from campaign spending.
10. The next few weeks are gonna be interesting…but not THAT interesting.
