Morning After Thoughts (2/21/16)

Truly appreciate the kind replies and emails in response to previous “morning after thoughts”.

Caucus and primary thoughts volume 3:
1. Jeb Bush is a decent man who came armed with a knife to a gun fight. He and his team may have planned out a perfect campaign but they never adjusted once Tsunami Trump hit. $150m poured down the toilet. (Think about that)

2. Jeb! had many pathways to the presidency but each one ended up having to be a bank shot around someone else. Not a good strategy.

3. If Rubio’s “victory” speeches represent the long-term impact of giving every kid a participation trophy, we’re in serious trouble as a society. For a guy with as many wins as Jeb!, Marco-bot talks a big game, which being the last man standing of the establishment candidates maybe he has a right to.

4. Cruz is still in best position to take down Trump with Texas and SEC primary in the near term. However, his showing amongst the evangelical voters he was so confident in, bodes poorly.

5. As of right now, Donald J Trump, a racist, sexist, bigoted, ill-informed, megalomaniac, braggart and blowhard is the odds on favorite for the GOP nomination. (Let that sink in, if you haven’t already).

6. GOP needs to figure out how to consolidate right quick if there is any chance to stop him, and there’s no proof they can.

7. A favorite parlor game is thinking about who a nominee will pick as their VP and major cabinet secretaries (chief of staff, UN rep, treasury, state, defense, homeland security). These choices say a tremendous amount about a candidate and their standing within the party and electorate, and their own understanding of their skills and experience. Can you imagine who Donnie T will pick? I sure as hell can’t.

8. Media is going to continue to proclaim Hillary is in trouble against Bernie. But, she just isn’t. She has 430 more delegates (leaving her about 1800 short of the nomination, which means this whole thing could/will be wrapped up by mid-March), a lot more money on hand and more importantly “the big MO” going into a primary calendar far more favorable to her than to him.

9. Bernie will fight on until she has 2,382 delegates.

10. A Hillary v Trump general will be the ugliest, nastiest election in American history (Hayes/Tilden or Adams/Jefferson ain’t got nothing on what this mess will be)
