“Morning After Thoughts” 3/9/16

Please keep the comments coming!

1. The incredible shrinking “little Marco” is really the story of the night. In a little of a week it went from “Marco-mentum” to nada burger. He’s done — even if he wins Florida.

2. The comically long US nomination season does have one benefit, it usually (read again: usually) exposes candidates for what they are. Rubio is just a lightweight, pre-programmed, un-prepared, wanna-be savior. He had everybody fooled for a while there.

3. Trump’s decision to hold victory press conferences is brilliant. Media loves the format so of course they’ll cover in entirety and it keeps cameras focused on him rather than crowd. ALSO, by doing it at his golf club he (his security) can select who’s allowed in the room — thereby limiting the possibility that the crazed and dangerous atmosphere of his rallies happens (h/t Joshua et al)

4. Expect obliquely worded, reluctant, forced statements of support for Cruz to start appearing.

5. Also expect continued outreach by Trump campaign to the GOP “establishment” which has thus far rejected him.

6. Contested convention is still (shockingly) a possibility, therefore so is an independent Trump run.

7. Would love to see data on how many Democratic (more specifically, HRC) supporters voted against Trump (i.e. For Kasich) rather than for HRC.

8. As I’ve repeatedly written, it’s not about polls or state wins, it’s about delegates and HRC is up by well over 600. I remain thoroughly confident she’ll be nominee.

9. She’s also up about 30 in both FL and OH. That promises nothing, but that’s a big lead.

10. Biggest curiosity is her losing states she won in ‘08.
